Roadmap

  • Bringing public attention to the homes and legacy of the Swiss mountain guides and their contributions to today’s world-renowned mountain culture in Western Canada.

  • Since April 14, 2022, we are an incorprated non-profit organization in British Columbia, Canada. We are working on becoming a registered charitable organization which allows us to issue tax receipts to our Canadian donors.

  • In 2022, we launched our GoFundMe and Swiss Guides Arts Sale fundraiser campaign with the purpose to come up with the requested non-refundable deposit of $100,000 as a first step to purchase the property for $2.3 Mio. Despite the incredible support and generous donations from the community, we did not succeed in raising enough funds. With the property already on the market and time ticking, we realized that the only way to save the village is to partner in an advisory capacity with a for-profit group. The village was purchased in July 2023 by Montayne Real Estate Group.

  • Thanks to out advocacy work, the village has been saved from being demolished. We are working together with Montayne, the new owner, towards the preservation and restoration of the buildings to make sure the significant history is not forgotten. Read our joint statement here.

  • We are collaborating with the owners in aspiration of constructing a future Swiss Guides Great Hall/Museum/Community Place that pays homage to the Edelweiss Swiss Guides at the site, for present and future generations to explore. We are also working towards educational programs (online/in-person) to engage diverse audiences with the fascinating history of the village.
